CONTACT is a great piece with a fantastic groove that players really enjoy learning. Full of interest and drive this is an excellent work for new ensembles that highlights their abilities and ensures they sound professional even if they have only been playing a short time.

PERFORMANCE/TEACHING NOTES:
CONTACT is fun and challenging to play. As the main theme progresses, each part adds a new layer to the sound - as each new part is added it should be played louder than the other parts. Each new section is indicated with a double line and rehearsal marks are indicated on all parts. Any section can be repeated if desired.
Scored for four marimbas plus bass, however it can be played on fewer instruments in which case position the parts to fit the octaves available. Experiment where each part is to be played on the marimba to create interesting and varied performances.
If no bass marimba is available this part can be played on the lower end of a regular marimba - if any notes are out of range, play an octave higher.
