LEVEL 1 HEARTLAND

A$25.00

HEARTLAND is a dramatic work that offers plenty of scope for creating a dynamic performance. Included in Level 1 of the String Ensemble Series, it is intended for groups that are just starting to find their way with ensemble playing and are looking for a work that will be easy to learn with manageable challenges. First Violins have the melodic line.

HEARTLAND is at the upper end of the Level 1 pieces in the Moxon Music String Catalog.

PERFORMANCE NOTES:

This work has a lot of quaver movement in Violin 2 and 3 which sounds highly effective when bowed lightly with short bows staying on the string. In initial rehearsals it is possible to have these sections play crochets rather than quavers until the structure and feel of the piece becomes apparent. Aim to have a legato sound especially in passages with minims. There is amply room for expression in this piece and it sounds very powerful even when performed as quartet.
